Carol A. Wiitala (Grenia)

Carol Ann Wiitala (Grenia) passed away suddenly on Feb. 6, 2018, from an aggressive cancer at Garden Courte Memory Care in Olympia where she lived since December 2016.

Carol Ann Wiitala (Grenia) passed away suddenly on Feb. 6, 2018, from an aggressive cancer at Garden Courte Memory Care in Olympia, where she lived since December 2016. She was 73. She had lived in Bay Center, Wash., where she was preceded in death in 2016 by her husband of 22 years, Russell R. Wiitala. Carol was born in Vancouver, Wash., and moved to the Raymond area in 1965 with her husband, Stanley Lapinoja.

She worked at Coast Oyster cannery for many years and then after returning to school, worked and then retired from the Senior Information Center in Raymond.

She was preceded in death by daughter Theresa Lapinoja, her parents Mel and Irene Grenia and two brothers, Dale and Jim Grenia. She is survived by four children; Linda Lapinoja and Stan Lapinoja of Raymond, Wash., Ellen Graves of Longview, Wash., Chuck Lapinoja of Oklahoma, a brother George Grenia of Lincoln City, Ore., a sister Bette Koivu of Oregon, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Carol’s loving spirit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
