The family of Alma Ervin is sorry to share that she left us on the morning of Nov. 14, 2018. She was born in South Bend, Wash. on May 18, 1941. Alma lived most of her life in Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Ervin. Alma is survived by two sons: Kenneth Ervin and his wife Taprina who reside in Aberdeen, Wash., and Aaron Ervin and his wife Mindy who reside in Bay City, Texas. She also has a brother, Fred Bair that resides in Bremerton, Wash., and a sister Kay Cutts that lives in Eugene, Ore. Alma also has five grandchildren.

Alma spent her career working as an LVN. Most of her career was at St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen until it closed. She spent most of her career specializing in Geriatric Care. She loved helping people. That was her gift from God, and she even tried helping others while she herself was in a nursing home.

She left Aberdeen about 10 years ago to be closer to her family in Texas. Although she moved to Texas, everyone will tell you Washington was always in her heart. She dearly missed being around her two grandkids in Aberdeen. While in Texas, she was able to go on many cruises with her family. She really enjoyed the Disney Cruises. She enjoyed watching her grandkids play ball, and even made a road trip to Kansas to watch her older grandson play football. She endured a couple hurricanes as well while in Texas. The most memorable being last year while she was staying at the nursing home. The nursing home evacuated as a group and when she returned a few days later she said that was a very nice “vacation”. Not too many people would have that same opinion.

Alma’s family would like to thank all the staff at Matagorda Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bay City, Texas for taking care of her the last two years.

At Alma’s request there will be no service. She will rest at Fern Hill in Aberdeen.
