Aldes Warner Nurney, 84, a resident of Westport, Wash. for the past 22 years, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at his home.

Aldes Warner Nurney, 84, a resident of Westport, Wash. for the past 22 years, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Richmond, Calif. on March 12, 1933, to Mathew and Ethel (Stengel) Nurney. He grew up in the San Francisco area and at the age of 10 contracted polio and battled the side effects of the disease most of his life.

On June 17, 1956, Aldes married Patricia L. Coe in Brookdale, Calif. She resides at the family home.

During his working years, he was employed by Black and Decker, Rockwell and Pentair Power Tools. He was transferred to Seattle as Branch Manager of the Rockwell facility in 1970. The family loved exploring their new state.

Aldes enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved the Teanaway Valley. Woodworking was also a major pastime of his.

Aldes is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia L. (Coe) Nurney of Westport; a son, George J. ‘Jeff’ (Carol) Nurney and a daughter, Valerie L. (Randy) Dillon-Shemwell; three grandchildren: Hayley A. Nurney-Hicks, Ian R. Dillon and Melissa Shemwell; three great-grandchildren: Jaedyn, Madisyn and Maisyn.

Per Aldes wishes, there will be no services. The family suggests that donations be made to Harbor Home Health and Hospice, 201 7th Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550 or to Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals (H.A.V.A.), PO Box 243, Raymond, WA 98577
