Wishkah superintendent placed on paid leave

Complaints heard at special meeting

Wishkah Valley School District Superintendent and Principal Dennis Johnson has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation of complaints about him by members of the school community.

At a special meeting April 9, board members ratified and approved a letter dated April 7 recommending the action.

The meeting reportedly drew a large crowd of community members with complaints about Johnson. Robert Eager, a longtime teacher and coach in the district, was named acting superintendent during Johnson’s leave. Bruce Daniels, Wishkah Valley School Board chairman, confirmed the report but said Wednesday that he could not discuss the details of the situation.

Johnson has been superintendent and principal at Wishkah Valley since June of 2015. He also serves as athletic director.
