Washington State Patrol troopers investigated a fatal vehicle collision on State Route 12 near Aberdeen Lake Road on Monday afternoon.

State Patrol Public Information Officer Chelsea Hodgson confirmed that the two-car collision resulted in a fatality via Twitter on Monday afternoon, that it involved a car and a pickup truck, and that the other driver involved was uninjured.

The westbound lane was blocked following the accident. Traffic was heavily backed up due to the accident, and there was alternating traffic utilizing the eastbound lane. Hodgson also wrote that members of the Washington State Department of Transit were being sent to assist with traffic control.
