Reward offered for Smoketown armed robber

The Hoquiam Police Department is offering a $500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect who robbed the Smoketown tobacco shop on Simpson Avenue May 25.

Police chief Jeff Myers reported the suspect used a knife to try to pry open the cash register, while the clerk was outside looking for help. An armed citizen confronted the suspect, who was able to escape out the front door. Myers said a canine search for the suspect came up empty that evening.

“Detectives have been following up on leads and tips since the robbery, but so far we have been unable to identify the suspect,” said Myers.

If you have information, call Detective Ryan Pearson at 360-532-0892 ext. 102 and leave a message if he is not in his office, or email him at rpearson@cityofhoquiam.com.

”If the suspect is someone from the Harbor, we believe someone will know this person or the suspect will have related the story of being confronted that evening during the robbery,” said Myers.

Photos of the suspect can be viewed on the Hoquiam Police Department Facebook page.
