Reminder: Weeklong closure of US 101 at Cosi Hill begins Monday

If the weather holds, Highway 101 at Cosi Hill will be closed to all traffic for five days starting Monday, June 17.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation. Once temporary lanes are installed past the construction zone, traffic is scheduled to reopen the following Friday, June 21, at 6 p.m. The Department of Transportation will accommodate first responders through the work zone.

There will be a signed, 7 1/2-mile detour via State Route 107 and Blue Slough Road. The intersection of State Route 107 to northbound 101 will close to traffic, and northbound 101 drivers will detour using State Route 107.

Southbound 101 traffic out of Aberdeen will detour using Blue Slough Road, which splits left off 101 at Cosmo Specialty Fibers in Cosmopolis. Access to and from Highlands Golf Course will be maintained, said the Department of Transportation.

When Cosi Hill reopens to traffic, drivers will find narrowed and shifted lanes through the area to allow for traffic flow during construction to stabilize the slide-prone section of roadway. The construction project is expected to last two years.
