Port of Grays Harbor offering tours of marine terminals, Satsop Business Park

The Port of Grays Harbor is offering tours of its deep-water marine terminals and the Satsop Business Park starting this month.

Bus tours of the Port’s deep-water marine terminals along Port Industrial Road in west Aberdeen and east Hoquiam will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the massive ships that come in to drop their cargo, and also a look at the industrial properties, according to the Port. The tours take about 1 1/2 hours and include a brief overview presentation.

Marine terminal and industrial property tours:

• Thursday, June 13, 3 p.m.

• Tuesday, July 2, 5:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, July 10, 3 p.m.

• Wednesday, July 24, 5:30 p.m.

• Thursday, Aug. 1, 3 p.m.

• Thursday, Aug. 22, 5:30 p.m.

Reservations are required, call 360-533-9528 to secure a spot. Additional tour dates may be added in September if needed.

The walking tours of the Satsop Business Park cover about 1 1/2 miles of the site, located south of Elma. The 1 1/2-hour tour takes participants around the old cooling towers, the tunnel training facility and more.

• Thursday, Sept. 26, 3 p.m.

Space is limited, so make reservations at 360-482-1600. Comfortable close-toed shoes are required on the tour, which is open to children age 8 and older. Minors younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
