We’re in the midst of a week-long approved clam digging period all over Washington’s coast

Coastal residents and clam-digging enthusiasts have been flocking to the Washington coast this week for a state-approved razor clam dig. The Department of Fish and Wildlife approved the seven-day dig which runs through Saturday at various beach locations.

Four different beaches are open for digging on different days. Long Beach and Twin Harbors will both be open through Saturday, Copalis Beach will be open Friday, and Mocrocks Beach will be open today and Saturday.

Diggers are limited by state law to a maximum of 15 razor clams per day, and are required to keep the first 15 they dig. Diggers 15 or older must also have an applicable 2017-2018 license to harvest razor clams. The licenses are available for three-day or year-long periods online at fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov and from various license vendors in the state.

The remaining digs are approved on the following beaches, dates and evening low tides:

• Today, 7:17 p.m.; -1.5 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks

• Friday, 8 p.m.; -1.0 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis

• Saturday, 8:42 p.m.; -0.4; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks
