Museum artifacts coming back to Aberdeen

Editor’s Note: This is a City of Aberdeen news release about objects that made it through the history museum fire in 2018 are being returned to the city.

The City of Aberdeen’s Museum artifacts that were recovered and stored by Restoration Management Company in Kent, are scheduled to be returned on Monday, September 23, 2019.

After the devastating fire on June 9, 2018, the City hired Restoration Management Company to retrieve the City’s Museum artifacts from the Armory building. RMC (Restoration Management Company) retrieved all salvageable property, cleaned the property for safe storage, and then stored the property in their Kent warehouse. The City has now secured a warehouse location at 2100 Port Industrial Road. This location will serve as the Museum’s storage facility for the artifacts. Contracted Museum consultants can inventory the property, update the museum database, and clean artifacts at this location.

The Washington State Archives has the documents and photos retrieved the day after the fire. The State Archives will continue their work on drying and pressing the documents and photos.
