K-9 officer Max makes another collar

A K-9 officer and his handler located and arrested one of three suspects in a burglary on Filly Lane near the county fairgrounds in Elma on Saturday, according to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call around 8:20 p.m. The first officer to arrive saw a person flee from a vehicle that did not belong at the residence, according to the statement, and witnesses told investigators three people were loading a pickup with a pool table from the residence and fled on foot.

K-9 officer Max was called to the scene and tracked one suspect to a clump of large blackberry bushes, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement. The suspect ignored warnings to come out voluntarily and surrender, so Max entered the brush pile and captured the suspect, who was subsequently treated for minor injuries “after K-9 Max took a bite out of crime,” according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was identified as a 32-year-old transient from Shelton. He was booked into the county jail on an outstanding felony warrant and new residential burglary charges. Detectives are attempting to locate the other two suspects.
