Hundreds crowd downtown Aberdeen for Founders Day Parade

History, pride and and progress all on display on North Broadway

Hundreds of revelers lined Aberdeen’s North Broadway Street Saturday morning and watched dozens of parade entries march by at the fourth annual Founders Day celebration.

There were many participants in this year’s parade, including the Aberdeen High School marching band, Elma Youth Cheerleaders, Aberdeen Councilman Alan Richrod and some of the sprintboats he’s been touting, a number of pride entries including the Aberdeen High School Gay Straight Alliance, 2017 Miss Grays Harbor Outstanding Teen Paicyn Dragoo from Aberdeen, and many more.

In the crowd lining Broadway there were many children, eagerly grabbing up the pounds of candy offered by some of the parade participants. Many were holding balloons and blowing bubbles. There were also plenty of dogs of all types, and there was food like fried turkey legs and more. Also seen in the crowd was U.S. Representative Derek Kilmer, a Democrat from the Sixth District.

The celebration continues into the evening, with a street dance featuring local band Electric Eye coming up at 6 p.m.
