Gunfire disrupts Aberdeen party, possible suspect identified

Aberdeen Police looking for additional witnesses willing to come forward

The investigation into a gunfire incident early Jan. 15 in Aberdeen has produced a possible suspect, and Aberdeen Police Lieutenant Kevin Darst encourages other witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation.

According to Darst, Aberdeen Police Officers responded to a firearm complaint at 111 North C Street shortly after 2 a.m. Dispatch advised officers that a single gunshot was heard from outside a party at the house at 801 East First Street. Multiple witnesses were contacted at the location. Some of them claimed to have heard a gunshot outside and others claimed that they didn’t hear anything. No one would identify the shooter.

The reporting party showed officers where the gun shot occurred. The officers on scene observed damage to the sidewalk that appeared to be from the impact of the bullet. A spent shell casing was located in the same area. They also found a small amount of blood at the scene, but learned there was an assault that occurred and believed the blood was a result of the assault. Additional Aberdeen Police Officers stopped a vehicle that was reported to be involved. Two male occupants of the vehicle were identified as victims of the assault, but were uncooperative and refused to give statements.

A possible suspect in the gunfire incident has been identified. The Aberdeen Police Investigations Section is seeking any additional witnesses that are willing to come forward. Please contact Lieutenant Darst or Detective Perkinson at 533-3180 with any information.
