Emerson kids meet some big wheels

One of the last days of school for Emerson Elementary School in Hoquiam will probably be a memorable one for its students as they got to explore different types of trucks and cars on Vehicle Day Thursday.

A school tradition since 1994, Vehicle Day brings the students of Emerson Elementary out of the classroom and onto the playground where various cars and trucks were available for their perusal.

Trucks from Grays Harbor PUD, Hoquiam Fire Department, Grays Harbor Sheriff ‘s Office and Aberdeen Police Department were present along with a race car, motorcycle and UPS truck.

Event organizer and Emerson Elementary School teacher Kjersten Kellogg said she appreciates the community support that makes Vehicle Day possible.

“Vehicle Day is a great way to end our school year and shows what an amazing community we live in, having all these people take time out of their day to support our students.”
