Bubble-wrapped shoplifter detained

Aberdeen officers were dispatched to the 7-Eleven on Boone Street shortly after noon Sunday for a reported shoplifter. Officers were advised the female suspect was outside the store and had bubble wrap on her face. When officers arrived they found the woman wearing a makeshift bubble wrap hat; nearby were the coffee and creamer she reportedly had taken from the store without paying. The woman denied stealing anything, but the reporting party made a statement that the woman, dressed in multiple blankets, entered the store and tried to leave with several shoplifted items, using the bubble wrap to conceal her face. After leaving the store she remained out front and pulled trash from the garbage cans. She had been trespassed a few times before from the store. When told she was under arrest, she stated she needed to finish her coffee; officers advised her she could not because she had stolen it. She was booked on first degree criminal trespass charges.

Man in Darth Vader mask robs 7-Eleven

Employees at the 7-Eleven store at 904 East Market Street called 911 to report a robbery early Sunday morning. A six foot tall man wearing a black wig and a Darth Vader mask produced a knife and robbed the clerk before fleeing toward B Street. Officers arrived but were unable to locate the suspect. Surveillance video showed the suspect in the wig and mask; police are describing him as having a husky build, and he was wearing a black sweatshirt, a light colored t-shirt, gray sweat pants and red and black tennis shoes. If anyone has information on the identification of the suspect, please contact the Aberdeen Police Department at 533-3180 and ask for Detective Cox.
