Second suspect in Aberdeen burglary arrested

The alleged getaway driver from the Monday morning robbery at a home on Wishkah Road north of Aberdeen has been located and arrested, said Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate. Deputies and detectives, with the assistance of the Aberdeen and Cosmopolis police departments, located the suspect at a residence in the 800 block of East Market Street. The man was arrested without incident and booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for first degree burglary.

Transient fight on Wishkah

A 29-year-old transient was arrested Sunday afternoon after witnesses saw him beating a woman in the parking lot of the Earley Tire Factory on Wishkah Street. The reporting party told officers the suspect had tackled the victim and actually knocked her unconscious. The suspect fled along the railroad tracks when officers arrived and ran into some nearby brush. Another witness pointed out the location of the suspect near Market Street and as officers approached he surrendered.

The victim, according to police, refused to provide a statement and told officers nothing had happened, even though she had a knot over her eye and a swollen, bloody nose. She declined to press charges as she, also a transient, was afraid of retaliation by other transients. She refused to allow her injuries to be photographed and also declined a restraining order. Officers supplied her with a domestic violence resource card.

A search of the suspect’s backpack revealed several syringe caps and a burnt spoon, along with coins and access cards, which were placed into found property while officers try to determine ownership. The man was booked at the Aberdeen jail for fourth degree assault, domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
