Comment on Twin Harbors State Park campsite proposal at June 12 meeting

There will be a public meeting June 12 at the Westport Maritime Museum to discuss plans to move Twin Harbors State Park campsites from the east side of State Route 105 to the west side of the park, located between Westport and Grayland.

According to the State Parks and Recreation Commission, the primary purpose of the project is to move campsites that were built along wetlands that flood every year, closing those particular sites. The camp sites would be moved to new sites on higher ground.

“This move will work to improve wetland functions on the east side while also improving recreational opportunities by getting visitors in closer proximity to the beach west of State Route 105,” said a State Parks and Recreation Commission announcement.

Public comment on alternatives will be taken at the meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the museum, 2201 Westhave Dr. in Westport. More information can be found online at parks.state.wa.us/1153/Twin-Harbors-State-Park-Move-Campground.
