Chehalis’ Sonic drive-in restaurant released a statement Friday evening regarding a credit card snafu in September that incorrectly routed payments from local cardholders to a tire store in Texas.

In September, the restaurant’s credit card machine was routing credit and debit payments to the store for approximately seven days.

“At no time was any credit or debit card information, nor customer information, compromised,” the release states.

In an effort to address the situation, the Chehalis Sonic refunded purchases routed to the tire store then re-charged customers’ cards.

“The franchisee who owns and operates the Chehalis Sonic Drive-In in no way intended to inconvenience or upset customers in remedying the errors from last September. He has directed his credit card processor to reverse all charges to customers immediately,” according to the press release. “Guests should see credits to their accounts by the end of next week or Monday, Jan. 23, at the latest.”

The reversal will refund “tens of thousands of dollars” in revenue from “legitimate charges” related to customers’ food purchases by reversing the transactions, according to the transactions.

Affected customers who experience bank charges or fees should contact the manager of the Chehalis Sonic.

The Sonic corporation was not able to notify customers individually of the issues because it did not posses their credit card information after the transaction was completed, according to the press release from The Silver Agency.
