Aberdeen School District looking for parents’ input on sixth-grade move to Miller

With all Aberdeen sixth-graders moving to Miller Junior High School starting next school year, the Aberdeen School District is forming a task force composed of student parents and district staff to provide input on the transition.

For fifth-grade parents interested in joining the task force, fliers and sign-up sheets will be available at Aberdeen elementary schools next week for those who are able to attend three meetings planned for 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11 at Miller.

Miller Principal Lisa Griebel will lead the discussions, and Henderson added that she would like to have fifth-grade parents from every elementary school represented in the task force.

Some topics the task force could have input on include the curriculum, how sixth-graders’ electives will be handled, lunch times and more, Henderson said.
