Aberdeen museum to host Kurt Cobain 50th birthday celebration

Fans can sign giant plywood birthday card, purchase local art at Feb. 18 event

The Aberdeen Museum of History will host a celebration in honor of Kurt Cobain’s 50th birthday Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to the museum’s director Dave Morris, it will be a casual affair. “There’s no cake or ice cream, but we will have some new art pieces by Harbor artist Tammy Franson, and also a giant plywood birthday card that Kurt’s fans are invited to sign.” The card will be incorporated into the permanent Cobain display at the museum.

“We may have another surprise or two up our sleeves also,” said Morris. “There’s going to be some new posters created by the museum just for this event. Who knows, we may even have a few people who knew Kurt reminisce, and share their personal memories.” He’s hoping a new mural will be ready in time for the celebration as well.
