Aberdeen man held in killing of his mother

A 39-year-old man is in jail, suspected of killing his mother in Aberdeen.

Details of the incident still weren’t available Tuesday morning, but reportedly it was a shooting in the 200 block of King Street in South Aberdeen.

KOMO News in Seattle cited Police Chief Steve Shumate as saying that when officers confronted the man, he made numerous threats to harm officers and eventually he came out of the home holding a baseball bat and moving toward officers. An officer fired his gun at the man, but missed, Shumate told the station.

The man was booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for investigation of second degree murder and was expected to appear in District Court Tuesday morning.
