Aberdeen man charged with child molestation turns himself in

Accused of inappropriate contact with a teenage girl

A 46-year-old Aberdeen man turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Office in Montesano after an Aberdeen Police investigation provided evidence he had molested the 14-year-old daughter of his girlfriend, police say.

The girlfriend called police Oct. 2 to a residence on East Mohler Street and accused Terry Steven Gunter of inappropriate contact with her daughter via Facebook messages. Police collected evidence including an electronic device that contained “inappropriate messages and pictures,” according to a statement from Detective Jeff Weiss, and an “attempt to locate was placed for the arrest” of the man.

A week later Gunter turned himself in to Grays Harbor County deputies. According to Weiss, he is being held on $50,000 bail and was arraigned Monday on charges of child molestation in the third degree and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
