Aberdeen driver dead after crash on SR 109 Friday

Edward R. Stielau, 84, reportedly had a ‘medical event’ that caused his car to leave roadway

An 84-year old Aberdeen man suffered a “medical event” while traveling southbound on State Route 109 on Friday afternoon that caused an accident that left him dead and his wife injured, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

Just before 3:30 p.m. Friday, Edward R. Stileau was driving his white 2005 Honda Civic on SR 109 near Bowerman Airport when he suffered what the State Patrol called a “medical event.”

The car left the roadway, striking a jersey barrier several times before going over an embankment and coming to rest on the driver’s side. Stileau was killed and his wife, 82, was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
