107 bridge detour ends early

MONTESANO — There’s good news for State Route 107 travelers in Grays Harbor County. Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation have successfully completed additional shoring measures on the SR 107 Chehalis River Bridge one day ahead of schedule.

A full closure of the bridge began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday after nearly six inches of settlement was discovered during an existing rehabilitation contract. The closure was expected to last through 8 a.m. Friday, but crews were able to successfully complete their work ahead of schedule and re-open the bridge to motorists.

The detour using US 101 and US 12 has been removed and traffic will again encounter alternating conditions with a temporary signal at the site. The project is scheduled to be complete fall of 2020.
