Whereabouts of Jeffrey Epstein confidante Ghislaine Maxwell remain a mystery

NEW YORK —Where in the world is Ghislaine Maxwell?

The Jeffrey Epstein confidante accused in lawsuits of trafficking underage sex slaves for the millionaire pedophile hasn’t been seen in public for years —and a tech CEO shot down a report Wednesday that she’s holed up at his Massachusetts mansion.

“It’s not true. She’s not there. I don’t know where she is,” Scott Borgerson told the New York Daily News during a phone interview.

Borgerson, 43, confirmed he knows Maxwell and considers her a colleague in the field of ocean conservation, but he was adamant she’s not hiding out at his $3 million oceanfront estate in Manchester-by-the-Sea, as reported by an online outlet.

“We’re friends, as many people in the ocean space are,” he told The News. “But my home is sitting empty. I just called the police. My cat is at my house. That’s who’s there.”

Borgerson, co-founder and CEO of CargoMetrics Technologies, said he was traveling in Europe on business and couldn’t talk long.

He praised Maxwell’s TerraMar Project, a nonprofit that works to protect ocean waters, but didn’t comment on a recent photo allegedly showing him walking her dog.

“I’m an ocean policy person. I’ve been on the road. It’s not real,” he said of the report. “(I’m) interested in the high seas. She has an oceans interest also.”

Attempts to reach Maxwell’s lawyer were not immediately successful Wednesday.

Maxwell, 57, is the socialite daughter of the late Robert Maxwell, a British publishing magnate.

She was named in a new lawsuit filed Wednesday in New York by Jennifer Araoz, a woman who says Maxwell helped run a trafficking ring with Epstein that groomed her for sex when she was only 14 years old.

In deposition paperwork unsealed by a federal appeals court Friday, accuser Virginia Giuffre said Maxwell helped Epstein keep her as a “sex slave” when she was a teenager.

Maxwell has denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with any crimes.

Last month, she fought the release of documents related to Giuffre’s claims.

Epstein, meanwhile, died by an apparent suicide early Saturday while in federal custody awaiting prosecution on sex trafficking charges.
