Willapa Harbor Lions Club names Students of the Month

South Bend

South Bend High School student Jacob Lush was named January Student of the Month by the Willapa Harbor Lions Club.

His high school activities include varsity football, basketball, and track and field. He is part of Knowledge Bowl and a teacher’s aide. His past activities include Future Business Leaders of America, Pep Club and Key Club.

Lush’s community activities include returning flags for Veterans Day, cleaning and landscaping at the Alder House, and running basketball tournaments (Oyster Shoot-Out and others).

He plans on majoring in college in computer engineering and later developing a tech company.

Raymond

Raymond High School student Lindsey Nichols was named January Student of the Month by the Willapa Harbor Lions Club.

Her high school honors, achievements and participation include being on the Honor Roll for four years and receiving the Presidential Award.

Nichols’ community activities and participation include Big Brothers Big Sisters, R-League, HAVA, SADD, National Honor Society (president) and Relay for Life.

She plans on becoming an EMT and then attending Central Washington University to earn a certificate in paramedicine.

Her parents are Erica and Bryce Nichols.

Willapa Valley

Willapa Valley High School student Matthew Pearson was named January Student of the Month by the Willapa Harbor Lions Club.

His high school honors, awards and accomplishments include being on the Honor Roll throughout high school, being named Student of the Quarter, class vice president his sophomore and junior years and class treasurer his senior year.

Pearson’s activities and interests include basketball, football, Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Pep Club. He spends his summers working in Alaska.

His future goals are to go to Washington State University for a bachelor’s degree in construction management.

His parents are Ann and Jay Pearson.
