Veterans Day events throughout the Twin Harbors

Events are scheduled all week long in observance of Veterans Day.

Events are scheduled all week long in observance of Veterans Day (which is next Saturday, Nov. 11).

Here is all the information we were able to find on public events in the area:

MONDAY

Hoquiam

Local veteran organizations will host a “Stand Down” event for homeless veterans (with proof of service) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 642 K St. Members of the Hoquiam Elks, VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans will be participating.

Breakfast and lunch will be served, and medical and dental vans also will be on-site. Clothing, shoes, boots, sleeping bags and personal hygiene items also will be available to homeless vets and their families.

THURSDAY

Menlo

Willapa Valley Schools invite all veterans and community members to an event at the high school in Menlo.

A reception to recognize those who have served our nation will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the high school common area, followed by an assembly at 2 in the gymnasium.

FRIDAY

Hoquiam

Two Veterans Day concerts will be presented by the Hoquiam High School Band at the 7th Street Theatre. Performances will begin at 2 and 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Oakville

Patriotic Tribute program will begin at 6 p.m. at Oakville United Methodist Church, 204 E. Harris Ave.

Buck & Elizabeth will perform a special tribute to veterans. Paul “Buck” Stierle is a former manager and songwriter for the New Christy Minstrels.

Seabrook

The Toast to Vets Celebration will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at Seabrook Town Hall, 4275 State Route 109 in Pacific Beach.

Seabrook’s Mill 109 Restaurant and Pub will partner with Aberdeen-based Wishkah River Distillery to offer four small plates with specialty cocktail pairings. Live music will be provided by local artists Karl Penn, Jackie Mitchell and Dustin Adair.

This event is open only to adults 21 and older. Admission is $50 per person or $90 per couple. A portion of the proceeds will go to Seabrook’s local VFW post.

SATURDAY

Aberdeen

The Aberdeen American Legion will host “Turkey Bingo” starting at 6:30 p.m., with all proceeds to be used to provide Christmas stockings for soldiers serving overseas. $1 per card, plus $1 for a blackout at the end.

Elma

Elma VFW Bill Mann Post 1948 and Auxiliary will host a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elma Veterans Memorial Park on Main Street.

The Grand Parade is at 1 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Elma. Covered seating will be available at Third and Main, at the Elma Visitors Station.

Lunch will be provided by the VFW and Auxiliary to parade participants between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Elma Grange, on the corner of Fourth and Waldrip.
