Tokeland Wood and Arts Festival this weekend

The 10th annual Tokeland Wood and Arts Festival will take place this weekend at the Tokeland Hotel.

The 10th annual Tokeland Wood and Arts Festival will take place this weekend on the grounds of the historic Tokeland Hotel.

More than 30 art vendors will be showing a wide variety of works, including Happy Cells Studio (paintings and jewelry), Bob Wahr Creations (metalwork), Gaia Blends (soaps and lotions) and Shoalwater Pottery.

Of course, plenty of woodworkers also will be there, such as Warren Heathers, Dana Selliken and Beck’s Original Woodworking.

The live chainsaw carving competition never fails to produce unique pieces. In 2016, for example, Aberdeen’s Sean Brown made waves with his “pooping angel.”

But this year, wood won’t be the only medium: Stone carver Pierre Mollinet is set to compete with his customized chainsaw.

Live music will include local favorite Black Shepherd, playing Saturday at 2:15.

The event will run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The address of the Tokeland Hotel is 100 Hotel Road.
