Silver Beaver

Rhonda Springer has received the Silver Beaver Award — the highest honor given to adult volunteers in the Boy Scouts of America.

The awards recognize registered Scouters of exceptional character who have provided distinguished service. They are presented by the BSA’s National Court of Honor on behalf of councils — locally, the Pacific Harbors Council.

“I am truly grateful and humbled to be chosen for this honor,” Springer said. “I am in exalted company.”

A Scout leader since 2008, Springer has served in numerous roles, from den leader to scoutmaster. She started the Coastal Waters District Merit Badge PowWow and continues to organize at least one each year. She also is a merit badge counselor, Cub Scout Roundtable commissioner, Cub Scout Day Camp director and district training co-chair (with fellow 2018 Silver Beaver winner Christine Helman).

Beyond Scouting, Springer is a lifetime member of the VFW Elma Post 1948 Auxiliary and a family history consultant at the LDS Family History Center in Elma.
