Seabrook is celebrating its 13th Founder’s Day today with an all-day event.

The town was founded in 2004 by Casey and Laura Roloff, who say they are proud to live in the community to this day.

After building their first home in 1996 on the Oregon coast, the couple developed the town of Bella Beach, which is credited with helping to redefine Oregon’s coastal real estate market. Bella Beach’s success was based on the demand for friendly, walkable neighborhoods in the Pacific Northwest.

They later decided to develop a town on the Washington coast, breaking ground in 2004. “More than a decade later, Seabrook enjoys national recognition and is becoming the Northwest’s most popular destination,” according to a news release.

Seabrook continues to expand. The soon-to-be town hub, Market Street, is under construction and will include restaurants, shops and activity centers. In addition, the expansion will bring a new round of housing, a cluster of townhomes that already have been sold out.

Today’s festivities include Seabrook’s Saturday Market, which starts at 11 a.m. Artist Eric Hawley will be creating one of his signature sand sculptures on Seabrook Avenue, and local business owner Buck Giles will lead a mountain bike “poker ride” through town at 7:30 a.m. A “big air” jet ski exhibition, performed by West Coast Surf Riders, will begin at 4 p.m.

The celebration will culminate in a free concert performed by Seattle-based band The Pop Cycle at Crescent Park. A community s’mores bar and a beer garden also will be set up there.
