Hall to perform classical comedy

Christopher Hall and the Comic Quartet will stage a free show Sunday afternoon at the historic Raymond Theatre.

Christopher Hall and the Comic Quartet will perform next Sunday, Nov. 11, at the historic Raymond Theatre.

Hall once was the principal clarinet of the Orchestre Metropolitain in Montreal, but found work in the orchestra far too serious. Instead of joking around in the orchestra pit, he now performs as a stand-up comedian accompanied by the Arcobaleno Strings quartet.

Combining high culture with laughs, he serenades his audience with beautiful classical music, accentuated with jokes and puns. Hall’s purpose is to remind the public that classical music is for everyone, not just those with a Ph.D. Through his show, the formal world of chamber music is demystified.

This special Sunday Afternoon Live performance will begin at 2 p.m. at the theater, 323 Third St. in Raymond. Tickets are $15 at the door, or may be purchased in advance for $12. They are available at the theater box office, Raymond Pharmacy, South Bend Pharmacy, www.sundayafternoonlive.org or 360-836-4419.
