Fishing in the Mill Pond

Even though it was a bit of a soggy, windy day, lots of kids showed up to try to snare one of those elusive trout April 6 during the Mill Pond Juvenile Fishing Derby in South Bend. The pond was stocked with 650 fish of all sizes. There was no winner this year, as none of the big winning fish were caught.

Paul Wiss won the bidding for a knife that was auctioned off to help pay for the event.

Dave Williams, promoter of the derby, said, “It was super good this year, — 36 kids came in 2018, but 90 kids showed up in 2019. It was fantastic!”
