Brush with fame

A Cosmopolis convenience store cashier had a brush with fame last week when actor Tom Felton stopped in to refuel.

Kelly Carney, cashier at the Maxi Mini Mart, said Felton — who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies and now is a regular on the TV series “The Flash” — pulled in just after noon July 1. She said he filled his black BMW with gas, then entered the store to buy some snacks and drinks.

“When I finally realized who he was, I asked what he was doing in this part of the woods,” said Carney. “He said that he was traveling from Canada to California because he felt like going on a road trip.”

When she told him she was a fan of the Harry Potter films, he offered to take a selfie with her, using her phone. After he snapped three photos, she wished him luck on his trip and they said their goodbyes.

“He was really, really nice and friendly — very easy to talk to and strike up a conversation with,” said Carney. “It was very awesome to be able to meet him. It was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.”
