‘Back to the Future’ festivities at 7th Street Theatre

Three DeLoreans from the Pacific Northwest DeLorean Club drove to Hoquiam from the Puget Sound area Jan. 25-26 for the 7th Street Theatre’s showings of “Back to the Future.”

Bob Martin also appeared both evenings as Doc Brown, Christopher Lloyd’s character in the 1985 film. He announced the theater opening each night by yelling, “Great Scott! The doors are open!”

As a door prize, the car owners gave one movie-goer a free ride after each show. Friday night’s winner was Preston Williams, 10, of Aberdeen; Saturday’s was Ruthmarie Davis, a Durney Insurance employee.

Shawn Knight, president of the PNDC, drove Preston around town Friday in his DeLorean. The next evening, Davis rode with PNDC member Tim Barker of Issaquah.

Members of the Hoquiam Police Department’s Crime Watch guarded the DeLoreans both nights while their owners were enjoying the movie.

About 355 people attended the two weekend showings.
