Adoptable Pet: Sakarah Red

This lovely specimen is named Sakarah Red — or simply Red. Husky lovers will note that her fur is high-maintenance, but she’s worth every minute.

She’s 6 years old and has had a rough go of it lately. Her family had to give up their dogs: Red, her father and another smaller dog. The little dog was adopted right away. Red and her father (a senior dog) stayed at the shelter for a few weeks and were very bonded, but Red unexpectedly lost him. Naturally, she is very lonely.

Red is somewhat timid but good with other dogs, small animals and people. You can visit her at PAWS of Grays Harbor, 800 W. First St., Aberdeen. They are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. You can also visit PAWS online at www.pawsgh.org, find them on Facebook or call 360-533-1141. Adopters who are 55 and older receive a 20 percent discount on adoption fees.
