Cormier gets support

Here’s what I love about Wes Cormier.

A year or so back, someone made a public records request for all of his social media posts related to county business. He could have tried to fight it, citing exemptions related to the political process (which exist) or try to claim some of the posts were personal.

He didn’t. He turned it all over. More to the point, he actually invested a few bucks in some software to make it easier for him to turn over those kinds of records.

He is the most transparent county commissioner I’ve met. And that’s saying something because I had the pleasure of working with a whole lot of county commissioners over an 11-year period while working as a newspaper reporter.

He fought to change the county’s nepotism-friendly job hiring practices as soon as he took office. I saw a letter to the editor recently asking the commissioners to meet with constituents more. Wes has done just that crisscrossing the county multiple times to do town hall meetings.

When he saw that the former owners of the Grays Harbor Raceway kept messing up, he led the efforts to fire them. That stupid lawsuit with the judges? Settled under Wes’s watch.

My mom recently moved to Ocean Shores. She’s just starting to figure this county out. I lived in Grays Harbor for a long time. I’m recommending my mom vote for Wes. You should, too.
