Board member not running

After much consideration and pondering, I have chosen not to seek re-election of Position No. 2 with the Aberdeen School Board. I plan to complete my term, remaining on the board through December 2019.

My tenure in serving our school community has been, at times, a challenging, yet eye-opening experience. I have gained great insight and tremendous knowledge during these past several years.

While I will no longer serve on the board, I will continue to support the programs for which I am passionate. The last of my four children will graduate from AHS in 2020 and I am grateful for the time our family has been involved in the Aberdeen School District. I’m also appreciative of the many educators, parents and the administrative leadership I have come to know and who I consider friends.

My first priority has always been my family. With the recent passing of my father and having to subsequently relocate my ailing mother, my perspective has changed. I will need to spend more time assisting my aging mother, my oldest is now married and my youngest will be a senior. These are busy and exciting times. I look forward to taking this time to focus specifically on my family.

Again, I am appreciative of the Aberdeen School District, its educators, parents and administrative team. I wish each of you and the district much success in the years to come.
